New Shoes

Howie fellow Crafties...

Well, as you can see I've been 'trying on new shoes' again... which is code for looking for 'the' blogger background... as I've explained in the past... its a bit like trying on new shoes... you have to try on a few to find the special pair you simply cannot live without...
This is today's pair... I'm after something that's not too cluttered and it has to have some purple in it... for those of you who know me, I drive a purple beetle... bit purple obsessed... so the past backgrounds have been missing that special 'purple touch'...
Will see how this one fits for a while..

Enjoy the day...
I'm off to work..

New at Wild Wicks

Hi Fellow Crafties...

For those of you who do not know I have a 'Sister' blog... Wild Wicks Candles... sharing my love of Soy Candles & yummy fragrances... all freshly hand poured upon order!

I have designed new labels added new fragrances and coming soon... soy candle making supplies. I have been very frustrated not having any place in Adelaide to purchase candle making supplies, so decided to take on the challenge to be the one to supply to  fellow candle lovers... for now it won't be a fancy shop... but sold from home by appointment.. more than likely 7 days a week... gotta love that!!!

The latest fragrance I've been testing is 'Monkey Farts'... this is YUMMMM!
Another fragrance... well I don't think you can actually call it a fragrance.... is Clean the Air... this one is actually an odour eliminator... so check out the Wild Wicks blogspot for more info...

Well, I will keep you posted on the arrivals of new fragrances or any new things available at
Wild Wicks... so stay tuned!!!

Till next time,

Luv Deb x

My New Flower Garden and I KILLED THE SNAKE!!

I wanted to show you all my new flower bed and despite the fact that I saw a snake and thought I was giving up on any kind of gardening - I was wrong!

I had bought this batch of saucers a few weeks ago and was bound and determined to do this flower bed around my sweet little Weeping Cherry tree by the back door.

Sooooooo, John helped me clear the grass around the edges of the flowers (which I had planted several weeks ago) to make sure the "six foot snake" wasn't still there.  And it wasn't.  So, I proceeded to crawl around on my hands and bad knees and dig the little trench for the saucers to go into.

All went well and I was almost finished and that snake crawled up from the ground.  Needless to say, I moved faster than I have in quite some time.  John said - kill it!  So, I calmly picked up the grass shears and chopped him into a million little pieces.

Now, Brenda has to tell me that usually if there is one snake, there is more.

But, I'm not going to believe that!

My little edging on my flower bed turned out really cute.  I'm very proud that I was so brave and didn't let the snake get the best of me.  (I still don't like getting dirt under my fingernails tho.)

My flowers are doing well - but, who can kill Petunias and Sweet Potato Vine?

The Balloon Flower is still ballooning!!

And, this pot is doing well.  (At least it is still alive.)

My Fairy Garden is growing, but, can anyone tell me why the tall spiky plant is turning white?  I've had that plant in the house for several months and it didn't do that.  Do you think it is allergic to the sun?  And, oh yes, the little yellow gardening boots are wellies - not welties as I thought.

I have been known to make Fairy Gardens in unusual places, like this bird feeder...

a book...

cracked pots...

and even in the side of an old tree that the branch had died and fallen off.

Oh well.....

Enjoy!

Mourning Doves and New Pillows

Oh - Brenda is going to be so proud of me getting a good bird picture!!  We have Mourning Doves nesting in our 50' pine tree in the back yard.  They built their nest amazingly low to the ground.

I have been busy this week sewing on new pillows for my Etsy shop.

The center of this one is an old, vintage tablecloth.  I have to admit tho, that I painted the leaves red.  They were a pale aqua and I wanted red.  So, I just painted them.  Where there's a will, there's a way!

The red and yellow flowered part of this is a vintage tablecloth.

I loved this old embroidered piece of linen with the hand crocheted trim around the edge.  I think it made a pretty pillow.

Beach umbrellas, anyone?

Maybe you prefer lighthouses?

Or gardening?  Do you see the three dimensional ladybug?

These will all be on my Etsy shop www.20northora.etsy.com later this evening.

In the next couple of days, I will be adding some of the vintage Memory Pillows and others for Mother's Day.  I'm only doing 12 of the Memory Pillows, so if you want one for Mother's Day, stay tuned or drop me a line.

Enjoy!

A New Meaning for Memorial Day

This Memorial Day Weekend brought on a whole new meaning to what Memorial Day means to me.

As a child growing up, we always celebrated Memorial Day by going to Tahlequah where most of my Mother's family was buried and decorated the graves.  This was a family ritual.

My Grandmother - Nana - who lived with us, started in January after Christmas making the most beautiful crepe paper flowers.  She could make them almost life-like.  Then, she dipped them in paraffin and made cemetery arrangements out of them.

We took a full day trip to go down and decorated all of the graves.

So, on Tuesday of this week, my sister Rita and I went out and decorated the graves of our family in Pryor.  My Dad bought a whole section in the old cemetery at Pryor so we could all be together. The above photo is my Mom and Dad's stone.

my youngest sister, Jane....

and precious little Landen.

My Dad has a military plaque at the bottom of his grave.

They encouraged me to have John's military plaque put on his headstone.  The ones in the ground get scratched up pretty bad from the lawmowers, etc.  And they did an awesome job on it.

So, this Memorial Day, remember those who have passed and love on those that are still here.

A New Red Clock and a Potato Masher

What does a new clock and a potato masher have in common?

Well, in this case, they are both red!

Found this really cute new red clock to add to my clock collection.

I had seen on Pinterest somewhere this idea!  It's an old vintage potato masher.  I already had the red one.  Then, I took a vintage tin tart pan and added a excelsior bird's nest with a little egg and a tiny bit of moss.

I thought it made a cute arrangement with the new red clock.

Am painting on a project this afternoon.  Hope to have it done by tomorrow, but - it involves spray paint and the wind is blowing like crazy, so, don't know if I'll get it finished today or not.

It's a beautiful day here in Oklahoma except for that crazy wind.

Enjoy!

New Type of Flowers in the Flowerbed

I have some new and interesting flowers in my flowerbed in the back yard.

I got these last Saturday at the Flea Market.  In this photo, you can see the bottom and they are made out of pop bottles - see the cap at the bottom?

They were 3 for $5.00.

I just love them tucked into the flowerbed.

Couldn't wait to show you my tomato plant!!

They are just loaded with baby tomatoes!

John must be so proud of me!!

I love the baby rabbits in the back yard and they love my Sweet Potato Vine.  See the little white tips?  They just stand there and bite the ends off.  Oh well, they'll grow back hopefully.

Bella and I so enjoy the rabbits hopping around the back yard.

Enjoy!

Judy

The Excitement of the New year has kicked in with a New Product Line !!

We are super excited to launch the all new 50 Year Stained LP Smart Side.
We have heard you loud and clear and we have responded.

Now offering a siding option that looks like cedar siding but with all the benefits of the 50 Year LP Smart Side.  So now you have a fantastic cedar look but no need to worry about re-staining every year and all the maintenance involved with cedar or treated wood siding.  This is a actual coating like paint that seals your siding with a stain tint,  and that is how we get the best of both worlds.

Here is a sample of how great it looks and there will be more coming. Stay tuned.
Also feel free to place your order and get your own nice cedar looking building.
