Lesson with Christi Friesen!

OMG!!! I am soooooo excited!!!!!!!!

This Saturday I'm going to a lesson with the awesomely talented Christi Friesen from America!!! For those of you who are thinking 'what the... who is this Christi, and what does she do???'
Well, she is one of those special people who has taken what she loves and 'Lives it' to to fullest. She basically works with polymer clay mixing this with all sorts of metals, beads, stones, fibre etc etc... I simply cannot explain it all... you have go to go to her website..

http://www.cforiginals.net/

Check out the link below for more info of the class I  will be attending... its to make stained glass polymer clay pendants... (as pictured above)

http://store.cforiginals.net/auadsasbecrs.html

I will definitely post my finished product!!! I also would love to share my past 'Polymer' creations with you, so stay tuned...
I purchased all her book about 6 months ago and reading them alone is an experience in itself... she is such a talented artist as well as writer... so reading her books gave me a glimpse of the real Christi... not normal, slightly touched but oh so wonderful!!!

I'm counting down the sleeps... zzz
Bye for now..

A Most Precious Gift

I received the most precious gift(s) from a reader named Ruth.  She and I have communicated back and forth for some time now.  This package came in the mail and I was almost in tears going thru all of the goodies in the box.

There were these two beautiful hatboxes filled to the brim with these....

A beautiful assortment of Blue Willow children's dishes.

You may recall that I have some of these and am always excited when I pick up a few pieces at sales.

This is the darling card she sent with the package.  Do you think it and my entry wallpaper are related?

She wrote the sweetest note and I will treasure it always.

As if that was not enough, she sent me a beautiful yellow shoe - MC COY!!!!!!  She knows me pretty well.

But, look what she made for my dollhouse - she crocheted these tiny doilies and a small rug - but, look at the tiny potholders!!  I put a dime beside them so you could see how tiny they are.  Amazing talent this woman has.  And the little white handtowel has a hand embroidered flower on it.

I cannot wait to start on my dollhouse and use these precious gifts.

Thank you so much Ruth!!

One thing I have learned for sure, is that bloggers are undoubtedly the sweetest and most giving people I have ever met.  I just cannot tell you how many people wrote me wanting to know what they could do to help Brenda with her move.  Such compassion and love for someone they have never met.

The move is done and finalized.  Brenda is a new person in her new home.  There's a lot of confusion until she gets everything "just right", but I keep telling her it just takes time.  But, thank you all for your concern and love for her.

Stay tuned for a fun project tomorrow!

Enjoy!

Day 2 of My Fun Trip

OK, here is the second part of my excursion last week in Missouri.

The plastic shoe box is full of old buttons!!  Several beautiful doilies and embroidered pieces.

Love this sweet little basket marked Japan.

This gorgeous little box with lid has a compartmental inside.  Isn't that cute?

A cute little Japanese pitcher.

Don't know what this is but it is so pretty.  It has a cork in the bottom so my first thought was s&p shaker but the holes are on the side and are huge.

Any ideas??

Some silver pieces and beautiful blue ones.

Love this little box with lid and the windmill on top.

So, there is still more to come in the next few days.  When the rain moved in Neosha, we went to Joplin to one of my all-time favorite places to shop - Rangeline Antique Mall.  Those people are the sweetest and most accomodating clerks I have ever met.  I have never gotten home with anything broken.  They take such care to make sure everything is wrapped properly.  So, if you are ever in the area, be sure and stop by.

They are located at 3421 Range Line Road in Joplin.

Tomorrow will be my 500th post.  I am so thrilled that so many of you have become such treasured friends.  I can never repay your friendship and prayers during the last few years.  Just know that your friendship is highly treasured.

To celebrate, tomorrow ONLY all comments will be entered into a giveaway for a surprise.

If you loved my Miss Begonia, you will love the giveaway tomorrow.  I promise!!

See ya tomorrow!

Enjoy!

Saturdays Treasures 5 3 2014

This has been a fun week.  On Monday, I had to go to a little town about 45 minutes from Tulsa.  And guess what I found on the way?  An antique store!  Imagine that!!  Then I went to an Estate Sale, the Flea Market and hit some garage sales.  So, here's the scoop on my loot!

I found quite few doilies, crocheted potholders and trim....

Two really pretty Cobalt blue pieces of Depression Glass...

a Mother's plaque (I have a whole hallway filled with these and I just keep finding them), a dainty little wall pocket with blue birds, three different vintage saucers, a serving dish, a small blue pitcher/creamer, two little teacups, and these....

I got three of these little rounded glass jars with metal lids.  They have been painted but are really worn off.  Does anyone have an idea what these are?

Found this dainty little cherry plate and this glass piece with cherries on it - don't know exactly what it is either.  Notice the bright red tablecloth with yellow forsythias on it?

A world globe, a whole roll of red and white dotted ribbon and this box full of these little green plaques.....

Love this Campbell Soup girl.  She's wood and very distressed.  In each hand is a small cup hook to hold potholders in the kitchen.  Should I brighten her up or leave her as is????

And last, but not least, I got this sweet smoking table.  It needs some work but the size is so cute.  It has a shelf on the inside.

Another successful week!

Enjoy!

GIVEAWAY Thank You!!

How about an Easter Giveaway?

I am having a giveaway of mostly handmade Easter items.  Included are the following:

The above Easter garland is made with little burlap bunnies with fluffy tails, paper pennants in Spring colors all on a yellow rick rack cording and tied with bright and cheerful rag strings.

Next is a pretty Easter table runner.  It's made out of burlap and is printed with the cutest bunnies.  It measures 14" x 72" and is hemmed on all sides.

Next is a hand stenciled kitchen towel with sweet little chickens.  The towel is bordered with a bright yellow print ruffle and floral trim.

And last, but not least, how about a little burlap chicken for your Easter decor?

These will all go to one lucky winner.  All you have to do is comment on my blog for the next week.  From today until next Sunday.  A winner will be chosen on Monday morning - 2/23.  You will have them in plenty of time to incorporate them into your Easter decor.  You may comment every day if you wish.  Each comment is an entry.

Now, to a big Thank You!

I awoke on Saturday to the doorbell ringing and jumped up to get on a robe.  It was the Fed EX delivery guy and this is what he had for me.

A box of chocolate covered strawberries from my dear granddaughter Tiff and the three little grands.

They were delicious and yes, there are two of them missing.  Yum!!

Thank you sweet Tiffany for remembering me on Valentine's Day.

Enjoy!

Judy

Things I Love!

I'm not writing today about what I thought I was going to.  An article in the paper today made me really stop and think about how blessed my life is and how much I have to be thankful for.

Some of the things I love that make me happy...

a good haircut,
pillows - lots of them,
vintage postcards,
crossword puzzles,
rain on the roof,
hearing my husband laugh,
craft shows,

vintage dishes,
time with my sisters,
sewing dollclothes,

sitting in the floor playing with my grandchildren
(even tho it's sometimes hard to get up),
good sewing thread,
toile fabric,
estate sales,

sweet memories,
dollhouses,

tarnished silver,
Mason fruit jars,
comfy shoes and jeans,
prayer partners,

playing ball with Bella,
well behaved children,
Fairy gardens,
wreaths on the front door
and
yellow roses.

I hope that you have lots of things that make you smile!!

Enjoy!

A Beautiful Spring Day!

Happy Saturday to you all!

Wanted to share my little chicken pulling a wagon that I got.  He's new but sure looks vintage.  The cart was filled with excelsior and I added a couple of little violas to the cart.

We had a beautiful day today - in the high 70's.  I spent most of the afternoon picking up all of the crushed tin cans that blew out during the Wednesday night storm.

Can anyone explain to me why these lightweight tin cans stayed in my yard but my big old garbage cans that were holding them disappeared?  I still haven't found the trash cans.  There were six 30 gallon trash cans that John kept on the side of the house behind the fence.  When he and Bella went for walks, he collected tin cans.  He brought them home and crushed them and put them in garbage cans.  Every few months, he'd gather them up and take and sell the cans.

If I could just find the garbage cans!!  For now, the tin cans are in big trash bags.  I told my grandson that if he'd come over, he could take them and sell them.

Strange happenings.

A Day At The Zoo and Eating Ice Cream!

Now, I ask you - isn't this the perfect way to go to the zoo?  We were all ready - sunglasses, map and a big sack of popcorn riding along in the stroller!

What a fun day!  Taking a 2 (almost 3) year old to spend the day at the zoo is so much fun.  I can hardly wait until the twins are old enough to go, although, I really don't know how I will be able to handle three at one time.

The highlight of the day was at the flamingo display.  We got to see an egg hatch and a baby flamingo born.  Laynee's only comment was "that's an ugly baby, but it's sweet".

And what's a more perfect way to end a day than to go to Braum's and have ice cream?  Poppy really enjoyed his also.

It was a perfect day for all three of us!

Enjoy!
